After a decade-long wait, St. Kitts and Nevis have marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the luxury boutique Hotel Indigo. This event is not just a celebration of a new hospitality establishment but a testament to the island’s dedication to sustainable development and economic growth.
Hotel Indigo, situated at the picturesque Potato Bay, stands as a beacon of modern luxury and environmental responsibility. The hotel, boasting 42 luxurious suites, a fully-equipped conference room, a modern business center, multiple gourmet restaurants, a gym, a unique bowling alley, an elegant bar, and an exquisite swimming pool, is set to transform St. Kitts’ hospitality landscape.
The significance of Hotel Indigo extends beyond its state-of-the-art amenities. In his address at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Economic Development, International Trade, Investment, Industry, and Commerce, emphasized the hotel’s alignment with the island’s sustainable goals. “As we embark on our sustainable goal initiative, Hotel Indigo promises to be a fitting example in keeping with our aim towards a sustainable island state,” he stated.
Dr. Douglas highlighted the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, noting its use of the latest smart technology and energy-efficient equipment. This approach aligns perfectly with the government’s Sustainable Island State Agenda, showcasing a model for future developments.
The project, valued at over US $100 million, is a major economic boost for the island. It is expected to create approximately 130 jobs during the construction and operational phase. The involvement of local contractors and workers in the development has been a source of pride for the government, demonstrating a collaborative effort between foreign investment and local expertise.
The Minister of Tourism, Honourable Marsha Henderson, has been instrumental in promoting St. Kitts and Nevis as a prime destination. The inauguration of Hotel Indigo, coupled with recent increases in airlift and airport upgrades, significantly enhances the island’s appeal to tourists worldwide.
